Education logos such as university logos or school logos are one of the major symbols of the educational institution. It establishes the image of the educational institution as well as the educational community it represents. Various styles and colors may be used depending on the nature of the organization.
When designing logos for an educational institution or school, a designer should consider the student and the faculty’s viewpoint that makes up the community. A kindergarten school should have colors that are lively and happy, such as primary color scheme. Adding some cartoon-looking character would be fine; however for High School or College education, it’s entirely different. Navy Blue, burgundy or emerald green are some common colors in university logo along with the graphics that symbolize the school’s history or areas that the school specializes in.
Abstract graphic are also being utilized to help it stand out from other educational institution logos. Formal fonts such as Times New Roman are commonly used to denote formal education and sincerity and genuine education. Educational logos should be appealing to the younger generation and its look should motivate and inspire students to be proud of their school seal.
Schools often have their logos in various items such as T-shirts, caps, bags, pens, sweatshirts, license plate and other school supplies. That is why it is important for a designer to create a logo that is flexible enough to be used in multiple platforms. Schools sometimes put their logos in small items, such a pencils and ball pen, with this a designer should make sure that the logo can be scaled down as little as the pencil’s body without losing its quality. On the other hand school logos should also look good when scaled up like the size of a billboard often used in stadiums.
